Butterfly Pea Flower Tea – What’s all the fuss about?

Butterfly-Pea Flower Tea! 🦋

The tea is made from the dried cobalt blue flowers!

It’s been a popular addition to trending cocktails because of its magical colour changing properties but we prefer to drink it on its own as part of a daily ritual.

Native to South East Asia – you might have seen it growing in gardens and restaurants around Bali!

Here are 5 reasons to try this beautiful tea!

1. In India, it is considered a holy plant, and throughout Asia it’s often used as a food coloring because of its vibrant blue shading. (Toxic free blue coloring for cakes, kids baths and activities too!)

I had my little guy help me with an experiment changing the PH of the tea with honey and lemon! Acids such as lemon or lime juice make for a vibrant purple color, while a base of hibiscus flower or honey brings out a bright pink. So fascinating!

2. Butterfly pea in tea form contains many plant-based antioxidants – hello anti-aging!

3. Butterfly pea flowers are also super rich in anthocyanins that support well-being and can also improve cardiovascular health!

4. Butterfly pea flowers are an adaptogenic herb meaning it is is non-toxic, It helps regulate stress by helping the body adapt to it and It has a positive impact on the body- we can attest to that, we’ve noted reduced anxiety after drinking 2 cups a day for a week or more.

Wait – that’s more than 5 reasons to try the tea – well here is one more…

If you enjoy green tea you’ll love the butterfly pea flavor, it’s slightly more subtle and has an earthy flavor to it. Let us know if you give it a go!
